DIVISION II WORLD SERIES : Tigers top two-time champs

Ouachita Baptist battled back twice, took its first lead in the top of the ninth inning, and held on for a 12-10 victory over Tampa on Tuesday night to advance to a third game in the NCAA Division II College World Series at GCS Ballpark.

Tampa won the Division II College World Series in 2006 and 2007.

“I’ve always said, ‘If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best,’” Ouachita Baptist Coach Scott Norwood said. “This is very big for the program, but we still have to beat some very good teams if we’re going to be the best.” Ouachita Baptist (48-15 ), ranked No. 4 in Division II, trailed 7-0 after three innings, tied the score at 7-7 in the top of the sixth, but trailed 10-7 going into the top of the eighth. Singles by Drew Wurzelbacher and Blake Lockwood were followed by Justin Pennell’s three-run home run to tie the score at 10.
