After dispelling the "sophomore slump" notion last year, Simpson is on his way to eradicate the "junior jinx" this year, picking up right where he left off as West Division Pitcher of the Week. A four-time winner last year, Simpson collects his sixth accolade, the most of any pitcher or player in GSC Baseball history. The hometown product from Magnolia was second in the nation with over 130 strikeouts last season and is aiming for the top spot this year after sitting down 13 in a 13-1 victory over Missouri Southern in just five and two-thirds innings. The junior allowed just three hits while holding the Lions scoreless and was on pace for a ridiculous 22 strikeouts in the contest.
