Southern Arkansas third baseman Cannon Lester (SR, R/R, 5-11, 185, El Dorado, Ark.) and Delta State starting pitcher Trey Griffin (SR, R/R, 6-2, 200, Houston, Miss.) are the Gulf South Conference Baseball West Division Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for the period ending March 28.
Lester ties former UWA standout Rob Dahlberg for the most Player of the Week laurels in a career with his fifth honor and second this season in a record-breaking week. The senior accounted for 22 runs in four games, slugging a ridiculous 1.714. The El Dorado, Ark. native set the school record for home runs in a win at Arkansas-Fort Smith Wednesday, before hitting one in each game of Saturday's doubleheader with Arkansas-Monticello. In the night cap of the twin bill, Lester was a single shy of hitting for the cycle, but belted his 61st career double, a new SAU record and seven shy of the GSC all-time mark.
