GAC Players of the Week



RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Northwestern Oklahoma State's Jonathan Freemyer and Southern Arkansas' Trevor Rucker shared the Great American Conference's Baseball Player of the Week award while Arkansas Tech's Randy Vallejo earned the Pitcher of the Week honor for the final week of the 2014 season, the conference office announced on Monday.

GAC BASEBALL CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Trevor Rucker, Southern Arkansas, OF, Fr., Prescott, Ark.
Rucker extended his hitting streak to 18 games as he recorded at least one hit in all four games played this week. In three of those games, Rucker had multiple hits as he ended the week 10-for-17 for a .588 batting average. Once on base paths, Rucker successfully swiped six bases without being caught to move up to third in the league with 29 stolen bases.

GAC BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Randy Vallejo, Arkansas Tech, LHP, Jr., Del Valle, Texas
Vallejo grabbed sole possession of the national lead for saves in Division II as he closed out all five of the Wonder Boys' victories to increase his total to 17. In five scoreless appearances, he allowed five hits and added a strikeout. He ranks second across all NCAA divisions in the saves.

  • Ben Agredano, 2B, Sr., Arkansas-Monticello (Hit .500 against No. 12 SAU; UAM won series from SAU for first time since 2001)

NOTABLE PITCHER OF THE WEEK NOMINEES                                                                  

  • Yumezo Densaki, RHP, Sr., Southern Arkansas (Threw a five-hit shutout against No. 25 UAM; struck out eight in the win)
  • Kregg Snook, RHP, Jr., Arkansas-Monticello (Recorded saves in both of UAM's victories against No. 12 Southern Arkansas)
