Braxton Rhodes named AMC Pitcher of the Week

The American Midwest Conference (AMC) is entering its second week of baseball awards, and this week's winners follow an impressive week with two outstanding performances of their own.

Braxton Rhodes of Williams Baptist College took the mound on Saturday, February 20, for the Eagle's last game in their series against Central Methodist University.
Down in the series 2-1, Rhodes was handed the ball in hopes of carrying his team to a split weekend. What head coach Frank Lee got was more than he had hoped for.

Rhodes would throw seven innings of two-hit baseball, striking out seven and walking only one. The sophomore from Fayette, Ala., only allowed one earned run and took home the win in his third start of the season.

Earlier this year, Rhodes began his pitching stats off with a seven inning shutout against Ottawa. He then had a struggle against Georgia Gwinnett when he suffered his first loss.
Rhodes is now 2-1 on the season with a 2.29 ERA, after coming off a 4-5 season in his freshman year.

With the win, Rhodes takes home his first AMC Pitcher of the Week award.
