University of Central Arkansas' Mark Moyer was named the Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday after picking up a pair of victories on the mound for the Bears last week.
Moyer, a redshirt freshman from Russellville who missed last season with an arm injury. pitched the final six inninings of relief in UCA's 5-4, 12-inning victory over Southeast Missouri last Tuesday. He then drew the start in the Bears' rubber game against SLC foe New Orleans on Sunday at Bear Stadium and secured the series victory with a seven-inning, run-rule shutout in a 10-0 victory. Against the Privateers, one of the top hitting teams in the conference, Moyer allowed just five singles in the complete-game victory.
