Southern Arkansas first baseman Logan Williams (JR, R/R, 6-1, 215, Damascus, Ark.) and Harding pitcher Lucas Waddell (FR, R/R, 6-3, 165, Ladner, British Columbia) are the Gulf South Conference Baseball West Division Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for the period ending April 4.
Williams claims his first career laurel after leading the Muleriders to five wins in as many tries this past week. The Damascus, Ark. native collected a hit and RBI in every game as Southern Arkansas took a doubleheader at then-No. 20 Southeastern Oklahoma State Tuesday before sweeping a three-game set at Arkansas Tech over the weekend. The junior drove in 13 runs on 10 hits including four doubles and a round tripper.
Waddell nabs his first career honor after throwing his second complete-game shutout this season. The freshman from Ladner, British Columbia toed the rubber in a mid-week battle against Central Baptist and needed just 65 pitches for the two-hit, 5-0 victory. With his dad traveling over 2,300 miles to see him pitch, Waddell also struck out three batters for his third win in as many tries at home this season.
