Henderson State nameds Cody Hooten interim coach

Hooten spent the last two seasons as the Reddies’ assistant coach under John Harvey, who left Henderson State to take over as Head Coach at Arkansas-Monticello last week.

“Throughout the interview process Cody exuded the qualities we look for in a person who is charged with molding the lives of young men using baseball as the avenue to do such,” said HSU Athletic Kale Gober. “The timing is tough to bring in someone new and throw them into the fire. But make no mistake, Coach Hooten is no consolation. He will use his pre-existing relationships with the players and constituents of HSU Baseball to continue moving forward in attempting to capture a conference championship.”

Hooten helped lead the Reddies to their first-ever Gulf South Conference Tournament appearance in 2010.
