Dirk Kinney Hired to Manage the Edenton Steamers

From 2008 to 2010 Kinney served as recruiting coordinator/pitching coach at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where in one year the Trojans went from 16 to 29 wins. He also guided the Ouachita Baptist University program to a second-place finish at the 2008 NCAA Division II College World Series.

In his first season at UALR, Kinney helped the Trojan pitching staff rank second in the Sun Belt Conference in strikeouts per nine innings (7.80), with junior left-handers Jake Sullivan and Adam Champion each ranked in the top 10. Both players were taken in the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft, with Sullivan going to the Tampa Bay Rays in the 22nd round and Champion selected by the San Francisco Giants in the 23rd round.
