Co-Hitter of the Week: Jordan May, UA Fort Smith

May batted .500 (8 for 16) during UA Fort Smith's four games this past week against East Central University (16-8 win) and St. Edward's University (5-3 win, 7-2 loss, 5-1 loss). He had two doubles, two home runs, nine RBI, four runs scored and 16 total bases. He compiled a 1.000 slugging percentage and a .529 on-base percentage. He was 2 for 2 in stolen base attempts and recorded seven putouts without an error. He had a career-game against East Central. May, a transfer from Jefferson College, was a career-high 5 for 6 with four extra-base hits. He had two doubles and two home runs – both season-highs – and scored a season-high three runs and collected a career-high eight RBI. The only at-bat he didn’t get a hit was in the sixth inning when he reached on a throwing error by Tigers pitcher Derrick Dederman. May’s home runs – his team-leading fourth and fifth of the season – came in consecutive at-bats in the third and fourth innings. He belted a solo home run off Tigers reliever Josh Rodriguez in the third inning to put the Lions ahead for good 3-2 and crushed a three-run home run off Tigers reliever Justin Davis in the fourth inning as part of a four-run, eight-batter outburst that pushed the Lions ahead 7-2.
