Eagles Baseball Receives AMC Postseason Honors


The Williams Baptist College baseball team had three players receive honors from the American Midwest Conference.  Thirteen Eagles received honors for their academic success and on-field performances.  

Ryan Shelton (SR/Brentwood, Tenn.) was honored as a First Team All-Conference selection as an outfielder.  Shelton led the team this season with a .375 average.  Shelton also led the team in runs scored (37), hits (63), tied for the team lead in RBIs (29), and stolen bases (11).  

Braxton Rhodes (SO/Fayette, Ala.) received accolades as a Second Team All-Conference selection.  A two-way player, Rhodes hit .333 this season with eight doubles, 25 RBIs and seven stolen bases.  Rhodes also finished with a team-high 7-5 record on the mound with a 4.06 ERA, which was the best earned run average by a WBC starting pitcher in 2016.  

Catcher Tanner Murray (SR/Piggott, Ark.) was also honored as a Second Team All-Conference performer.  Murray hit .316 this season with nine doubles, two home runs, 13 RBIs and two stolen bases.  He also posted a .993 fielding percentage.
