Lyon College Scots

The Lyon College Scots welcome 15 fresh faces to a roster that finished 40-18 overall and 15-12 (4th-place tie) in the TranSouth Conference.

Upperclassmen dot the infield landscape as senior Drew Kellums (.328 average, 9 HR and 55 RBI) moves from starting catcher to first base to replace departed first-team All-American Andy Bettis (graduation). Senior Justin Brown returns at second base, junior Josiah Hass starts at short and junior Justin Cunningham (.376 average) takes the field at third. Rounding out the infield is sophomore transfer Jason Danoff (Yavapai College).
The starting outfield is completely revamped with Kody Cox in left and Sam Neal in right. Junior transfer Nick D’Amico (Lake-Sumter CC) replaces TranSouth Gold Glove winner Mike Sanchez (graduation) in center field. Senior Andy Schatzley and sophomore Nick Salahub are expected to share time at designated hitter.
Three returnees and one newcomer completes the deck of pitching aces for the Scots this year. Seniors Justin McGarity (7-6, 3.96 ERA) and Derek Bond (9-3, 4-31 ERA) return in the starting rotation and transfer Chad Brock (Santa Fe CC) rounds out the rotation. Salahub resumes his role as the team’s closer, in which he won two games, saved six and posted an ERA of 2.41.
