What the Bears have going for them is experience. UCA lost only three everyday players from last year's squad _ Matt Warren, Craig Nyborg and Jonathan Ashworth _ but two of them were in the team's top three hitters. The pitching staff returns almost intact, with ace Matt Whitaker returning after leading the SLC in strikeouts a year ago with 116. He is the career strikeout leader at UCA with 198 in just two seasons.
