Gulf South Players of the Week

WEST DIVISION

Ouachita Baptist catcher Jim Streicher (SR, R/R, 6-2, 215, Cincinnati, Ohio) and Southern Arkansas starting pitcher Aaron Terry (JR, R/R, 5-11, 180, Rison, Ark.) are the Gulf South Conference Baseball West Division Player and Pitcher of the Week for the period ending March 9.

Streicher continues to lead the second-ranked team in the country with stellar play behind the plate. This past week, the senior was the difference in two non-conference tilts against No. 30 North Alabama, driving in a run in the first contest and hitting a solo homer in the other as the Tigers won both games, 4-3. The Cincinnati, Ohio native was four-for-seven in a three-game set against MIAA opponent Missouri Southern over the weekend, upping his average to .583 for the week.

Terry earns the Muleriders' second Pitcher of the Week award this season with two outstanding road outings. The Rison, Ark. native tossed a pair of gems beginning with a seven-inning performance against Division I opponent Grambling State in which he allowed just one hit, one unearned run and struck out 13 batters. The junior set down 13 of 14 batters from the second through the seventh inning, including eight by strikeout and five straight. Against East Division foe Alabama-Huntsville, Terry threw five frames and struck out four in a seven-inning game.
