Gulf South Conference West Division Player and Pitcher of the Week

WEST DIVISION

Southern Arkansas shortstop Pat Robey (SR, R/R, 5-9, 170, Longview, Texas) and Harding starting pitcher Brodie Brumley (SO, R/R, 6-2, 210, Scottsboro, Ala.) are the Gulf South Conference Baseball West Division Player and Pitcher of the Week for the period ending April 6.

Robey earns his first career GSC West Player of the Week honor following an incredible week at the dish. The senior from Longview, Texas was 2-for-5 in three different contests this week but was 4-for-5 with two runs, a double and six RBI in the scheduled seven-inning nightcap of Saturday's twin bill at Arkansas Tech. Robey's biggest hit came when it counted the most, blasting a grand slam in a seven-run, eighth inning. The leadoff batter for the Muleriders accounted for 12 of SAU's 41 runs this week (29%).

Brumley powered Harding to a crucial GSC series win Sunday with a complete-game, two-hit shutout of Christian Brothers, 8-0. The Scottsboro, Ala. native responded to the Bucs' one-run, game two victory by allowing just two singles and fanning four in the final contest of the series and doubleheader. In his first career shutout, the sophomore did not allow a runner to reach second base, recording eight fly outs and seven ground outs in seven innings of work.
