Gulf South Players of the Week

WEST DIVISION

Henderson State outfielder Jeremy Sauceda (JR, R/R, 5-8, 165, Corpus Christi, Texas) and Southern Arkansas starting pitcher Aaron Terry (JR, R/R, 5-11, 180, Rison, Ark.) are the Gulf South Conference Baseball West Division Player and Pitcher of the Week for the period ending April 20.

Sauceda led HSU to its second consecutive GSC series victory and an upset over the No. 2 team in the country in a mid-week tilt. The junior from Corpus Christi, Texas hit safely in all five games last week, including a 1-for-3, one RBI performance in a win over SAU, 2-1. Against CBU this past weekend, Sauceda was a combined 5-for-11 with four runs, five RBI and two home runs in two wins. The award is the first for a Reddie since February of 2006.

Terry notches his second honor this season and fourth for the Muleriders following a complete-game shutout at #25 Ouachita Baptist. After SAU dropped the series opener, the Rison, Ark. native slammed the door on the potent Tiger offense, scattering five hits and a walk while fanning four including retiring eight straight batters at one point. The junior's performance gave the Muleriders a win, 9-0 and allowed them to win the series the following day.
