WEST DIVISION
Ouachita Baptist outfielder Justin Pennell (SR, L/L, 6-2, 245, Toronto, Ontario, Canada) and Delta State pitcher Korey Cunningham (JR, R/R, 6-2, 210, Clinton, Miss.) are the Gulf South Conference Baseball West Division Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for the period ending April 27.
Pennell finishes his regular season career with his first-ever Player of the Week honor, emulating his final home plate appearance. Against Montevallo in mid-week, non-conference action, the senior blasted a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the seventh inning in the nightcap of a twin bill, lifting the Tigers to a comeback victory, 6-4. The Toronto, Canada native made sure OBU headed back to Millington with three hits, all for extra bases, and six RBI at Christian Brothers this past weekend. Pennell blasted two home runs in Saturday's opener before doubling in the finale as the Tigers swept the Bucs.
