The Lyon College Scots are hoping to bounce back from a rain-soaked 2008 season in which the team never got its rhythm due to a record-10 games canceled by wet weather. Lyon finished 2008 with a 28-20 record and placed seventh in TranSouth Conference play with an 11-11 mark.
In 2008, Lyon ranked fourth in the TranSouth in team hitting with a .308 average and placed fifth in runs scored per game at 6.67 in 48 contests. The Scots were fourth in team pitching with a 4.88 ERA.

This season is already expected to be a landmark campaign for Lyon Head Baseball Coach Kirk Kelley, who is in his 17th year at the helm of the Scots and is just five games away from his 500th career victory.

Speed and experience is expected to make mighty contributions to help the Scots reach that landmark and more in 2009. Lyon returns six part-time or full-time starters from last season, and many of those players helped Lyon collect 83 stolen bases a season ago.
