Lyon's Sam Neal and Nick Salahub pick up weekly awards


Neal, a 6-foot-3 senior right-fielder from Pine Bluff, Ark., helped the Lyon Scots to a 3-1 week, including two wins over TranSouth co-leader Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) and NCAA DII Henderson State (Ark.). Neal hit .588 (10-17) on the week with four homeruns, 14 RBI, and two doubles. He recorded multi-hit games in all four games, including three hits in two games. Neal added a stolen base on the week and slugged 1.412. His homeruns on the week placed Neal third on Lyon's all-time homerun list. He currently leads the team with 14 homeruns and 57 RBI. Lyon (35-17) is in fourth place in league play with a 12-9 TranSouth record.

Salahub, a 6-foot-9 junior pitcher from Phoenix, Ariz., tossed a complete game, two-hitter versus TranSouth co-leader and NAIA No. 32 Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.). In his seven innings of work, he allowed just one run on two hits with 11 strikeouts. Lyon (35-17) is in fourth place in league play with a 12-9 TranSouth record.
