Southern Arkansas claims 2 GSC Awards

Southern Arkansas second baseman Cannon Lester (JR, R/R, 5-11, 185, El Dorado, Ark.) and starting pitcher Aaron Terry (SR, R/R, 5-11, 185, Rison, Ark.) are the Gulf South Conference Baseball West Division Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for the period ending April 19.

Lester earns his third award this season and of his career after leading the Muleriders to their 20th straight victory. The El Dorado, Ark. native recorded four multi-hit efforts in five games last week including two of three against GSC West foe No. 25 Ouachita Baptist. The junior spurred SAU to a three-game sweep of the Tigers with 12 RBI and three home runs as the Muleriders locked up at least the second seed in the GSC Tournament.

Terry claims his third career honor and first since 2008 with a strong performance on the mound this past Sunday. The senior from Rison, Ark. tossed six and a thirds innings of the seven-frame affair, scattering five hits and one unearned run as Southern Arkansas completed a three-game sweep of visiting Ouachita Baptist, 4-1. Terry fanned seven Tigers in the decisive game, improving to 6-1 on the year.
