Kevin McReynolds named to high school hall of fame

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Former Sylvan Hills High School and University of Arkansas baseball standout Kevin McReynolds has been selected to the National High School Hall of Fame.

McReynolds also spent 12 years in the major leagues with San Diego, the New York Mets and Kansas City.

He's one of 12 inductees to the National Federation of State High School Association's Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony will be July 2.

McReynolds led Sylvan Hills to the Arkansas Activities Association Class AA state championship in 1978. He was selected the tournament's most valuable player and was named Arkansas High School Baseball Player of the Year.

He hit 634 as a senior and had a 16-1 career pitching record.
