Blake Lockwood and James Schroeder named GSC West Player/Pitcher of the Week

Ouachita Baptist outfielder Blake Lockwood (SR, L/R, 6-1, 170, Stuttgart, Ark.) and Southern Arkansas pitcher James Schroeder (SR, R/R, 6-0, 205, Montgomery, Texas) are the Gulf South Conference Baseball West Division Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for the period ending February 22.

Lockwood earns his first career GSC West Player of the Week award following a fine week of hitting. The senior from Stuttgart, Ark. hit .474 with eight RBI and three extra-base hits in four games away from home. In two wins over then-No. 23 West Alabama, Lockwood was five for 10 with two RBI and a home run. The leadoff man smacked a double and was two for five with two more runs driven in against No. 16 St. Joseph's (Ind.) Sunday.

Schroeder becomes just the fourth player in GSC history to earn both a Player and Pitcher of the Week award in his career. The Muleriders' regular third baseman, Schroeder took the rubber with a complete game shutout of Northwest Missouri State Friday, 10-0. The Montgomery, Texas native tossed seven innings, scattered four hits and fanned eight batters before the game was called due to the 10-run rule. The senior struck out at least one Bearcat in six of his seven innings and retired eight consecutive hitters from the end of the fourth through the sixth inning.
