Premier Baseball Championships to begin next week

Forty teams from as far afield as New York, Arizona and Canada will converge on Northwest Arkansas next week for a youth baseball bonanza.

The Premier Baseball 16 & Under Championships will be held July 29-31 at six venues. A team of Fayetteville High sophomores and juniors, coached by Bulldog assistants Scott Gallagher and Scott Williams, will be among the 40-team field.

Along with Fayetteville High's field at Harmon Field, the University of Arkansas' Baum Stadium, Springdale's Randal Tyson Complex, Veterans Park in Rogers, Phillips Park in Bentonville and Crowder Field at the University of Arkansas Fort Smith will host the more than 100 seven-inning games contested over three days.
